This is a very good idea...........but we also need to put those yellow ribbons on our car or P/U antennas. If the highways of America had hundreds/thousands of cars with yellow ribbons.............the story could not be hidden.

Great idea, Matilda and Kevin! What a wonderful logo. Images of America being held hostage to special interests, led by a "president" appointed by a conservative supreme court! Here's an idea: perhaps we could start a movement to tie ribbons around flagpoles (city, county, but especially federal offices) around the land. That would catch the attention of every local news outlet and perhaps grow to regional or national after a while. What do you think?

Everyone should get this week's copy of Newsweek. Read the sad story of the stolen election, then put up those yellow ribbons.
Now, the Democrats would come out with some strong messages - like how the republicans are stealing our freedoms, that would help.

I think this is a good idea, however I should not get my hopes up that the media will ever mention it. One must not assume that the media is unbiased, and merely hasn't seen any "good stories" yet. Bush,
Scalia, Rehnquist, and all the other parties involved in the coup have been greeted by massive protests wherever they go, and these are never reported by the news. The secret service has obligingly moved these protesters out of the views of cameras, which is exactly the way the media wants it. They want pomp. They want dignity. They want patriotic zeal. Anger doesn't sell products, and they will never show it. They are more than hungry for profits, they are owned by the enemies of the people, and they are deliberately stifling all protest, because they WANT Bush to remain in power, they LIKE his ideology, and they laugh in scorn at any such idealistic hogwash as journalistic integrity and the Fourth Estate as watchdog of the government.

I like your comments and agree with most of what you say. Based on what you have on the first page of your website, you must be about the same age as my father. He passed away about eight years ago, and it is a good thing that he was not around to see what happened in December of 2000.
We are now truly living in a fascist dictatorship, with an illegally elected leader. While your idea of a yellow ribbon is moving, it will do us no good. I urge everyone who is outraged by the present administration to work feverishly to register voters and get people out to vote in the 2002 Congressional elections and the 2004 Presidential election. I plan to go door-to-door and work till I drop to get this illegitimate imposter out of the White House!
I urge every caring American to work like a dog to defeat the forces of fascism. This is our America, not theirs!

I turned 60 a couple of weeks ago.

I believe we should be using *ORANGE* ribbons (preferably neon). Yellow ribbons are already used to welcome home servicemen, so we need to differentiate our statement. I suggest orange because it is a reminder of Florida. It also has the advantage of being highly visible. Anybody agree?

Dear Matilda and Kevi
What about locating a source for cheap yellow ribbons (maybe even plastic, to withstand winter weather) with your website printed on them? People could order them online and any profits could go to support website maintenance. You could have a live link to the ribbon site so people could purchase them for their community and then post themselves on your site as place for locals to get the ribbons.
Great Site. Thanks for having the vision to do it!!

What a terrible turn of fate that we have this horrendous terrorist attack on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon (with far reaching waves that will affect many, many
others) just when our appointed, non-democratically elected president's policies since sworn into office, have seemed an effort to
alienate the majority of our allies, to enflame the middle-east by refusing to give an ear to
legitimate Palestinian grievances, to side with Israel, even when they are conducting the most horrific acts against the
Palestinians, and to refuse to entertain any kind of support for talks between the two until they stop the violence, is almost inviting a broader conflict to occur.
But isn't military involvement and war what his administration has hoped and worked toward before and since his election? His biggest monetary supporters were those corporations in the military/industrial complex who would reap huge profits from building the machinery for another war. In a state of war, citizens don't think about balanced budgets; only an assurance that their country will be adequately defended.
Ah, yes, the terrorists, whomever they are, have given GW Bush a huge gift. He now has real justification for increasing the military budget and rewarding his supporters with big tax-payer paid for contracts.
Let's take a look at patriotism here. I hear calls from everywhere in the press-including our ex President and Vice President--to stand behind Bush, our current and illegitimate Commander in Chief. I'm sure these two men who formerly led our country, and in whom I have more confidence than I do in our current resident, are only voicing these opinions in an effort to keep the country united. BUT I have to tell all politicians and journalists that the American people have ways of uniting against an attack, and it doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the man currently in the Oval Office.
I disdain and disrespect the current occupant of the White House. I feel he lied and cheated to get there, and has no 'moments of conscience' that he was ushered into the office by a partisan Supreme Court vote, even though he lost the popular vote nation-wide and probably would have lost Florida if not for voting fraud and irregularities.
Anyone who can walk into such high elective office with those clouds over his head, and behave as if he has received a mandate to do whatever he wants, has a serious problem with deceit, untruthfulness and
irresponsibility.
I've had a sign in my front window, put there on the day of the Supreme Court decision on Dec. 12, 2000 which reads, "W (in a circle with a single stroke cross over it)--NOT MY PRESIDENT."
I've had so many people go out of their way to tell me they liked my sign. I also have a car sign, picked up at the protest against the coronation on Jan. 20th in DC, that reads "Illegitimate Son of a Bush" I get a lot of positive comments on that as well.
Despite this call, in times of crisis, to support our president, more people should consider that we've been HAD, and that wiser minds than our pretenders' need to be at work here.
WE DIDN'T ELECT THIS GUY AS PRESIDENT; THE SUPREME COURT CONSERVATIVE MAJORITY BY 5-4, SELECTED HIM AND WIPED OUT AND NULLED MILLIONS OF VOTES FOR AL GORE IN THE PROCESS--THE VOTES THAT GAVE AL GORE A POPULAR WIN IN THIS COUNTRY OVER BUSH.
That unfair and partisan Supreme Court decision has turned this country and our democracy on its ears. Constitutionally, our Supreme Court was never given the power to decide a
Presidential election. They overstepped their Constitutional bounds by becoming involved in the Florida election and
interfering with that state's Supreme Court decisions.
And the saddest thing is that our Supreme Court members who ruled to stop the Florida vote recount, knew that they had no legal
precedent to do so--they were inventing a one-time opinion to aid Bush in winning the decisive Florida electoral college votes.
All I can say is that the Supreme five's decision on this will live in legalistic
infamy, and I can't imagine any legal historian seeing their judgment as anything but partisan.

I guess the rule of law means nothing to people anymore. Go back and view the timeline. Go back
and look at the chronology. Go back and read the statute. Understand that the Supreme court HAD
step in and grant the rulings it did because we are a country of laws. The Supreme court ruled because
thugs in the democratic party threatened to break the law in the full light of day and behind closed doors
to steal the election. The Electoral College is the electing body in this country because it is our LAW.
Men of intellect and integrity crafted these laws but If you don't like it then act as a change agent. But d
don't take the common, lazy, childish, and mean spirited democratic party's modus operandi which is to attack
that which is disagreeable to your wishes. Remember that the recount showed Bush to be the winner
in those Florida counties, no matter how much bitching you do you can't change that. Oh, and by the way,
Read a ballot before voting on it please? Ask a question or two while standing in line. If you get involved in the
Process BEFORE you vote, then you are more likely to be taken seriously when you have a grievance.

To the person who posted a comment on 9/14 (which called Democrats name after nasty name)
>Understand that the Supreme court HAD step in and grant the rulings it did because we are a country of laws.
If you truly advocate following laws, don't try to pick which ones you'd like the country to follow. As has been pointed out countless times, Florida already has a law in place to re-count ALL the votes in certain events. Remember the line, "states rights"? That's what Florida attempted to enact until the Supreme Court - in an unlawful act - stepped in and usurped the lawful authority of the State of Florida.
>The Supreme court ruled because thugs in the democratic party threatened to break the law in the full light of day and behind closed doors to steal the election.
The only THUGS in question were paid operatives from the offices of RePUBLICAN Washington DC representatives sent down to Tallahassee to disrupt the orderly, lawful procedure. The buses that transported these disrupters were paid for, rounded up, and fed by those same Republican congressmen.
>The Electoral College is the electing body in this country because it is our LAW.
And Florida has in place voting laws (that you apparently like to quote so much) to place electors in that body.
>Men of intellect and integrity crafted these laws but If you don't like it then act as a change agent.
Which I, like so many others, are doing.
>But d don't take the common, lazy, childish, and mean spirited democratic party's modus operandi which is to attack that which is disagreeable to your wishes.
Now, you've lost all credibility.
>Remember that the recount showed Bush to be the winner in those Florida counties, no matter how much bitching you do you can't change that.
That is completely untrue.
>Oh, and by the way, Read a ballot before voting on it please? Ask a question or two while standing in line. If you get involved in the Process BEFORE you vote, then you are more likely to be taken seriously when you have a grievance.
You are to be taken seriously when you stop your childish attacks on the intelligence of the American voter, when you stop your ranting and raving and quoting of such radio stars as Rush Limbaugh. Please line up your facts before you spew.

Although the horrible events of Sept. 11 still have me in a state of shock, in a way I'm still in shock from the horrible event of Dec. 12, 2000. We have all been stunned, even numbed, by the horrendous destruction which took place in our country this week. Obviously, our
"Tie a Yellow Ribbon" campaign has taken a back seat for the time being. But we will not give up on our drive to unite our country behind a movement to reclaim it

Great Site...Unfortunately we will not be able to address these issues for a long time.
We are entering another long and most terrible war. We will probably not ever see our social security since all the Big Corporations are now beating down the door of Congress for tax handouts (guess they figure they better get theirs before we are bankrupt). This falls right in line with Treasury Sec.O'Neil and V.P. Cheney's push to eliminate corporate income tax completely. O'Neil told an International Consortium that it would be eliminated within 2 years.
Our 401K...won't see the light of day for decades.
The most educated and prosperous generation in American history has been brought to their knees and wiped out with what will be a protracted defense.

Nice work. I worked in the U.S.A. in the Spring and Summer of year 2000 and after the initial culture shock had abated, I was continuously impressed by the friendliness of 'my' Americans, D's and R's alike. I was even more amazed at how these human gems could have built and maintained such a seemingly enslaving society, where people have to work their behinds off just to pay for the mortgage.
Now, I am not one for communism. I like making my own fortune and my own future. I don't believe in pulling the sleigh together with mentally challenged individuals, unless the cause be REALLY good, and not for long anyway. But I do believe in responsibility. I do believe in providing minimum care for those in my society who are less able than I. Because if I don't, am I not psychotic then? Uncaring? Inhuman?
I am not sure if this is what Georgie Boy meant with the trophy topic 'Compassionate Conservatism'. I would have presumed so, but obviously my English may not have been quite up to the task of grasping his meaning.
How did it go; 'Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave' - or was it 'Land of the Greed and the Home of the Slave'? Frankly, I am not all that sure anymore. But it seems like Georgie Boy is.
God Bless America. If God is listening after all the grief we have caused him, that is.

Thank You for this wonderful sight.
A very dangerous corporate coup has overthrown our U.S. Constitution. Yellow ribbons are an excellent idea, but how do we get through to a society brainwashed by a bloated and brazen crazy corporate media?
Most Americans think it is unpatriotic to value the very laws of our own United States Constitution. Most Americans think that if we don't bear our muskets and rush off to kill someone that we are unpatriotic.
Many Americans don't even realize how lucky we were to have experienced 8 yrs. of peace and prosperity under the last elected President of The U.S.A. In fact many seemed anxious to shed liberty and civil rights in order to accept an illegal resident, appointed by 5 corrupt judges.
How do we undo the coup if our own elected Democratic representatives are too timid to resist the
fascist bully pit?

That you for this site!! How dare he..Who the heck does this dimwit think he is. Killing innocent people, both foreign and American soldiers with MY tax dollars and in MY name in a *sometimes secret war* - his wording, a war which can never be won..You cannot get every terrorist in the world and what is Bush's definition of terrorist anyway?? Great site!
The only suggestion I have is printing & passing out flyers to get the message out to people that don't have computers. Even if they watch the news or read newspapers they aren't going to hear/see the truth of what's going on, for the news stations & newspapers aren't any help. They're just covering up, and I'll never understand why.
Even my representative. I sent that auto. e-mail to him about opposing Ashcroft & 5 months later I got the DUMBEST 2 page letter from him ( J. D. Heyworth (sp)) that mentioned Ashcroft & WHY he wasn't going to oppose him which made NO sense at all, which told me Heyworth does what HE wants, not what his people want. (As I had suspected, but I tried. That's why I don't remember the spelling of his name, for I have no respect for him at all!)
Yellow ribbons were to bring our servicemen home safely, weren't they?
How about a dark Grey, like we're in mourning, for we are, if they succeed in taking away our way of life - freedom - that we're used to.
That's just my 2 cents.

Isn't it interesting how the endless war we have entered and its bioterror ingredient will benefit only the arms manufacturers and drug
companies,i.e. W's support base, not to mention Cheney's oil company new pipeline across Afghanistan! The surplus evaporated and now Bush wants an open checkbook like uncle Ronny had to further stick it to the people. In less than nine months our great country has gone to shit.
The overvote fraud stank from day one. We were victims of the simplest and most obvious electoral fraud. How did these Gore votes become
overvotes? Who put an extra mark on them? These are tactics used in elections all over the world. Extra marks on ballots suddenly appear, just in time to invalidate that vote. Most foreign headlines called it a fraud because they knew what had happened. They have seen it happen in their country, and they never thought it would happen
here. Why did we allow it? This is the real question. Exit polls were never wrong before! Lets learn from the mistakes of our political
naiveté and apathy.
We vow to never let this happen again. Yellow, Orange and Gray ribbons on every car and in a central location in every city until we take O'four for Gore and get our rightful government back!!! It's the right thing to do.

You're old enough to be my mother and I'm proud to know you're out there somewhere!
I live on a farm in the middle of the Bible Belt. I'm surrounded by Republicans who register as Democrats so they can vote in the primary! Everyone is invited to do that when they register to vote!
I'm a Navy vet, too, but a little later than you. Kennedy was my Commander in Chief. Truman was the President of my childhood.
The situation in the US is very serious and very scary. I'm an old history teacher and I must say we have been let down by our educators who, seemingly, have not taught US History very well, or they haven't felt obliged to determine that their students learned the important parts.
We've been let down by Christians who have remained silent in the face of the Christian
Reconstructionists, like Robertson and LaHaye and Kennedy.
We've been let down by the Democratic Party, which has shifted so far to the right that they don't have a toenail on the left side of the line. They don't support us, but continuously ask us for money to support them.
I've been online for years and only discovered your website this evening, but I've downloaded all your flags and ribbons. I'll use one of them on every email I send from now on. Tomorrow, I'll go to Wallie World and Kmart and buy all their yellow ribbon and place ribbon on every fence post on this farm as well as every tree that is visible to the public. I'll also tie ribbon to every flag pole I see. I don't
desecrate flags by flying them on my car, but I'll have so much yellow ribbon on my car tomorrow everyone will think I got married in my old age! ;o)
Earlier in this madness, back in Dec 2000, someone online suggested that we write sentiments about the faux election on our money. I'm going to start writing "America Held Hostage" on my money. What was the date of the so-called Patriot Act? Was it Oct 31? I'll have to try to check that out. That will be a good date...Halloween!
Thanks for putting up the website and thanks for all the good articles you have written. I've shared them all with friends, sent the URL for your site, and suggested they buy a lot of yellow ribbon.
I've been pretty angry about people desecrating the flag. I've stopped several times and pick them up off the roadsides. I hate seeing them ripped to
shreds on the interstate! This yellow ribbon campaign will make me feel a lot better.

Hi Matilda,
I love the yellow ribbon idea. I have to get a new flag. I've been ashamed to fly a flag since George Bu$h seized the White House & America sat on their collective backsides and whined "there's nothing we can do".
Well I intend to fly the flag....upside down..[sign of distress] & will add a giant yellow ribbon.
