The UN bombing: a product of the US occupation of Iraq
By Peter Symonds
20 August 2003
Excerpt:
There is no doubt that in the aftermath of the Canal
Hotel bombing, the Bush administration will step up
its repression against the Iraqi people. Bush hinted
at what was in store when he declared yesterday:
[The] Iraqi people face a challenge, and they face a
choice. The terrorists want to return to the days of
the torture chambers and mass graves. The Iraqi people
who want peace and freedom must reject them and fight
terror.
Stripped of its obvious lies, Bushs menacing
statement is a warning to the Iraqi people: either you
are with us, or against us. By recklessly invading and
occupying Iraq, the US administration has turned the
country into a quagmire that is producing spiralling
opposition and resistance. Bushs comments are a
signal that the political gangsters in the White House
are preparing to escalate their war of attrition
against the Iraqi population.

I support the victim culture
You have two choices in terms of the victim culture.
1) An abusers culture. Supportive of abusers and abuse.
2) A victim culture that supports the victim, hates the abuse.
The criticism of the victim culture is purely to help the abuser. The critics pretend you can magically wash your brain of all bad memories, emotions, magically turning into another person, by deciding there is not such thing as a victim, and that it was great fun to bully that weirdo who was regarded as scum even if you were the person getting bullied. Most bullies believe this is what psychiatrists do for victims. That you will come out of hospital feeling “well-balanced” and recognising that being regarded as scum is a good way to “build people up for later life”. (All bullying did for me was make me feel everyone regarded me as scum, which has made me extremely shy around people. Bullies hate shy people)
The reality is you can never get rid of bad memories. People brains aren’t computers. Telling me the problem was trivial and really great fun is just telling me what you thought of it, and I already knew what you thought of bullying me.
The only way to stop the victim culture is to stop the abuse.
I can assure you being regarded as a disease by other pupils doesn’t do any good in the slightest for your personal memories. Furthermore, why have you decided that shy, or quiet, or weak, or sad, or
mongs, or weird, or black, or gay, or disabled children deserve to be treated like diseases. Why did you decide that does them good? Would it do you good for everyone to regard you as scum? Or is it only people you despise who deserve this generous fillet?
Then when I try and explain how this makes me feel, the bully decides it is trivial, because they see victims as trivial.
Try this experiment with your wife for two days treat her like she is diseased scum, call her insults behind her back, and in-front, tell her friends to treat her like scum, look at her in awe at how inferior and pathetic she is, then see how she reacts around you, she what that does to her impression around you, do this non-stop and then tell her she is mad when she complains, just to drive home the impression, she is scum. Maybe you feel that is a justifiable way to treat people but don’t tell me it won’t hurt, or it is trivial.
.
How does telling me I wasn’t bullied help me? How does suppressing me help me? Should the police ignore all your problems will that build you up? If you get robbed should it be just your fault only.
If you get raped are you not supposed to see yourself as a rape victim. If you are racially abused are you not to see yourself as a racism victim. How the hell does telling a person or even a country who has been attacked that they were not attacked, help? How does suppression stop abuse or make people happier? All it does for me is make me feel angry and bitter you could see your abuse as trivial.
Critics of the victim culture claim that the victim culture:
1) Stops you standing up for yourself.
2) Creates a dependency culture.
3) Creates problems out of trivial issues.
4) Turns the victim into an abuser.
These are contradictory criticisms. How can the abuser see you have something that is so serious it needs to be stood up to, while at the same time claim it is trivial? How can they claim the victim culture prevents you standing up for yourself and tell you it makes you dangerous to see yourself as a victim?
It seems back to the old catch 22. If you do stand up to the bully you get beaten up and told it serves you right for standing up to the bully, but if you don’t stand up to the bully they call you a wimp and the bully decides you deserve to be bullied for that reason, or that you are emotionless and don’t mind being treated like scum.
A further line of attack is to proclaim all victims as potential abusers. So therefore victims must be suppressed. This is extremely insulting, and factually wrong. There I am trying to speak out against bullying and I am shot down with the most horrific insult that that makes me a bully. It is the most suppressive insult you can make. Sometimes bullies use this trick deliberately to break you. Often it is the type of person who feels you can learn lessons from the Israel - Palestine crisis for all abuses. They decide there is never a victim only two abusers, and they are both to blame.
My analogy is to look at paedophilia. If you have two victims of paedophilia. One hates paedophilia and hates the abuse. The other sees it as trivial and useful to build people up. Who is more dangerous?
Then there is the complaint that the victim culture causes a dependency culture. Well that is just a psychopathic answer to prevent victims from getting redress, or revenge. How does not liking your abuser create a dependency culture? You are just using that as an excuse to not help. The abuse creates a dependency culture. The abuse or discrimination prevents you from working or doing well. If people are racially discriminated against or discriminated for being shy, then they will be held back. Everyone wants to be successful. I try hard, but if someone says they hate me, and I can’t get a job. Then they are holding me back. If I complain I am told I am in a dependency culture, if I don’t complain I am called a wimp. If you don’t want to do employ someone or treat someone fairly because they’re black or shy. You are holding them back.
Then there is the old line of deciding it is manly to be evil so if you’re good they say you’re effeminate, while they regard themselves as manly for being evil. Using their logic Hitler and Bin Laden are the manliest, while Jesus and Ghandi are big girls.
Then there is the horrific idea that abuse builds you up, and that treating people well is molly coddling them. Should you as an adult be mugged and then told it builds you up for the next time you’re mugged, so the police should reward muggers.
Should terrorists be told they are useful as they build us up for terrorism? Should all children get robbed and beaten up deliberately, to build them up. Would Eton’s best policy be to pay thieves to rob Eton dormitories?
I don’t want to be bullied as an adult or as a child it never does me good. So what the hell do I need to be bullied as a child for? The more I get bullied the worse it feels. There doesn’t come a point where I feel yippy I am getting bullied.
Are you just going to suppress any complains about abuse of any sort. Are all your complaints reasonable but all your victim’s complaints unjustified ranting moans?

CHERYL SEAL REPORTS: Did Bush & Cheney "Order" The Great Blackout? YOU
BET THEY DID!
August 16, 2003
Excerpt: The timing was way too convenient - just days to weeks before crucial
votes on Bush's sweeping energy plan and Clear Skies Initiative - both
designed to dramatically overempower and expand the fossil-fuel-driven
electrical power generating industry. Afterall, if the 9/11 disaster got
G.W. the Patriot Acts, why shouldn't a massive power outage get him "Energy
Acts"?
The timing of the Thursday blackout was amazingly coincidental. It
occurred just weeks before Bush plans to shove a sweeping energy plan
through Congress that will not only force America to be ever more dependent
on fossil fuel for decades to come, but will turn the American electrical
utility system into a giant megacorporation sans competition, sans recourse
by consumers. It also occurred just as Bush's sick-joke of an alternative to
the Clean Air Act, 'The Clear Skies Initiative' was facing a very uncertain
future -as of August 5, Bush had resorted to using the EPA website as a
'sales promo' for the plan (see http://www.epa.gov/clearskies/ ).to try to
drum up public support he was highly unlikely to obtain. The Clear Skies
scheme, hiding behind its deceptive corporate euphemism, would give the
electrical power generation industry a license to pollute.

Bush Diagnosed With Attention-To-Deficit Disorder
WASHINGTON, DC—Pointing to massive war-time tax cuts, physicians from the Congressional Budget Office diagnosed President Bush with attention-to-deficit disorder Tuesday. "The president exhibits all the symptoms of
ATDD: impulsiveness, restlessness, inability to focus on mounting U.S. debt likely to reach $400 billion by the year's end," Dr. Terrence Spellman said. "Failing to address his affliction could lead to serious long-term fiscal health problems for future generations of Americans." To treat the president's
ATDD, Spellman prescribed Ritalin and an introductory course in high-school economics.

So many people, probably most of us, and I confess to being among them, hear a lot about things they really don't understand.....like genetically modified foods, etc. Lately, we are hearing so much about depleted uranium. I know it's bad....it's dangerous, etc. but until I read the follosing article, I had no idea just HOW bad. I simply felt it couldn't be THAT BAD or our government wouldn't be exposing our boys to it.
Well, my dear readers.....I find I was wrong... and so will you when you take the time to read the following articlele:

I have never seen or read such idiotic and mentally inept comments like I have seen here. Thank God you pathetic morons aren't in power. My God, please take the first plane out of this country and don't come back, go to cuba, north korea, china; you will enjoy those places much more than the USA. There are many more of your kind there. I will gladly pay your way if you can't afford it.

The studios, from which Mr Joe Scarborough does his broadcasting, are located at--get this--One MSNBC Plaza in Secaucus, New Jersey. Now let's imagine those studios are engulfed in a swarm of humanity, as thick and as numerous as biblical locusts. Let's further imagine that each and every constituent of that swarm is demanding justice for Lori Klausutis. Were that to happen, there would no way that our major media could avoid dealing with the thus-far inexplicable death of Lori Klausutis. Too bad, it's not going to happen just after you finish reading this courriel.
Nonetheless, it can be brought about. Certainly, one may ask how. Let's suppose you get in touch with two kindred spirits. Thanks to your urging, they then write a letter to the editor of their local newspaper or get on the horn to local call-in radio, or do both. In your communication with your kindred spirits, you urge them each to do the same in turn with two more friends.
No, I won't bore you with the mathematics of it. Please just accept that it won't take long before millions are informed and taking action. Here's what you can do right now. Please consider forwarding this courriel to two kindred spirits, in other words, get the ball rolling for Lori's sake.
Ya'know, it would be a nice touch, if you would insert your website's URL somewhere in the body of this missive.
Oh, yeah, as for the text below the red asterisks, it concerns my attempt to reach the major talk radio pontificator in the Greater Binghamton (NY) region.
warmest regards

This May, as a Pennsylvania state legislator, I led the successful effort to kill a Bill O'Reilly-inspired effort to ban the sale of French wines in Pennsylvania, and then debated the issue with O'Reilly himself on the O'Reilly factor. Since
then, Pennsylvania Congrressman Joe Hoeffel announced that he would vacate his Congressional seat (Philadelphia, Montgomery County) to run for U.S. Senator, and I have begun running for his seat. I run to work to make sure that our occupation of Iraq does not become another Vietnam, and that our occupation of Iraq does
not stop all domestic spending. I run because I am angry at the lies and indifference to truth from so many official spokespersons. I run because I believe I can make a real
difference in Congress, and not just be another generic Democrat. Please contact me at
