In Bed
with George W. Bush, Or Just Plain Stupid? Dec. 15, 2003 -- WASHINGTON, DC (apj.us) -- On Sunday night, I found myself furiously e-mailing colleagues at CNN as I watched a bloat of usually erudite reporters and news readers apparently taking their lead from Bill Schneider, CNN's wacky political "analyst", and his goofy pretense that Democrats, particularly Howard Dean, may have lost their strongest political trump card against George W. Bush because our American boys and girls located Saddam Hussein Saturday night in a spider hole after an eight-month-long deadly game of cat and mouse -- or was it cat and arachnid? Are these CNN news celebrities cracked or what? Since when is majority outrage over the Iraq War centered on the "disappearance of Saddam Hussein?" Moreover, why would locating him terminate, erase, or even dim the fact that George W. Bush and those around him seem to be non-stop pathological liars, schemers and warmongers, killing our kids and innocent Iraqis as a result of their avarice and an insatiable lust for power -- an obvious fact CNN's so-called journalists will not straightforwardly admit? Does capturing Iraq's deposed tyrant make anything George W. Bush told us more true -- or true in the first place? Does arresting Saddam Hussein magically erase the lies about weapons of mass destruction? Does it expunge the former Texas governor's lies concerning nuclear programs he claimed were aimed at the United States -- with Saddam's finger supposedly on a 45 minute trigger? Does it resurrect the hundreds of dead American heroes who gave their lives for this farce, based on their belief in the worst manner of falsehoods and deception conceivable? No. CNN and the rest of the mainstream (and not-so-mainstream) new media had best stop reading the White House and RNC talking points -- and get with reality. George W. Bush remains the liar he's always been. George W. Bush did not capture Saddam Hussein -- kids far braver and far more wonderfully naïve and attractive, inside and out, did. And that, Ms. Woodruff, Mr. Blitzer, and Mr. Schneider, is the truth.
